In the PNW, consistent outdoor training is one of the biggest challenges facing youth baseball and softball. Due to frequent rain, many games and practices are canceled, shortened, or significantly impacted by weather. Fields are often unplayable for days at a time, and many communities lack access to indoor training options. When practices are repeatedly rained out, athletes lose momentum, fall behind in skill development, and in many cases disengage from the sport altogether.
HeyBatter operates out of a mobile enclosed inflatable set up that comes to you. What makes us different from traditional batting cages is the integration of visual, technology driven training. Instead of simply hitting into a net, athletes receive real time feedback from each swing and get to see the projected ball flight and play outcome. This data is displayed on a screen that shows where the ball would land on a real field, turning weather canceled practices into fun, engaging, productive training sessions.
HeyBatter was created in response to a real need I have witnessed both as a lifelong softball player and as a volunteer youth coach. I played softball throughout my childhood and have spent the last six years volunteer coaching my daughter’s Little League teams, which has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life. Through coaching, I have seen firsthand how sports can change the trajectory of a child’s life by providing structure, confidence, discipline, and a sense of belonging.
